Waterfall FC Makes History as VFF Champions League Semifinal Lineup Confirmed

Galaxy FC, M3 United, Waterfall FC, and Police FC have secured their places in the semifinals of the 2024 VFF Champions League, set to kick off on Wednesday, June 19.

This comes after the final group stage matches confirmed the top two teams in each pool. Waterfall FC’s qualification is historic—this is the first time the club has reached the semifinals of a national-level VFF Champions League tournament.

Waterfall’s campaign was boosted by the arrival of several key players formerly with Ifira Black Bird and Malampa United, helping them top Group B with 6 points. Police FC came second with 3 points, while Malampa Revivors exited the tournament with no points.

In their decisive match, Waterfall FC defeated Malampa Revivors, with goals from John Wogale, Tonly, and Jean Pierre Tousi—three former Ifira Black Bird players who have been instrumental in the team’s success.

Speaking to Vanuatu Football Federation media, Waterfall FC captain Mike Hendry shared his excitement:
“I’m excited—it’s the first time ever for a team from Torba to reach this level. It’s history for us, and we’re grateful. We’ll continue to play with the style and discipline our coach encourages. I want to thank our fans; your support helped get us here.”

John Wogale, named Man of the Match against Malampa, thanked God and the wider Torba community:
“Thank you to God for the strength. Big thanks also to the boys from our province who came to help us. We’ve learned a lot from them. To our fans in Torba—keep praying for us and supporting us. We’ll be preparing for the next match.”

With Waterfall and Police now through from Group B, attention turns to Group A, where Galaxy FC and M3 United both sit on 6 points ahead of their final clash. Eastern Sun and Spirit FC have both been eliminated, with no points.

VBTC Sports understands that the semifinals will see the Group A winner face Police FC (Group B runner-up), while Waterfall FC (Group B winner) will take on the Group A runner-up.
