Mothers and Youth Join Swimming Program with Paradise Swim Academy

Mothers from a Wan Smol Bag training centre took part in a three-day swimming class with Paradise Swim and Arts Academy.

This was made possible through a collaboration between the academy and Wan Smol Bag, giving different departments the chance to participate in swimming sessions.

This week saw mothers and youth from literacy and sewing classes take part in the sessions, led by swimming instructor Busi Neil and her team.

Busi said the program is not only about swimming but also serves as a form of exercise.

“Last three days we did something special with Wan Smol Bag with the mothers, and they are part of the program where Carnival Cruise Line sponsored us. We did swimming, floating, and aqua exercise. The students and mothers are learning how to float and survive, and how to have fun and enjoy the water.”

Paradise Swim is an academy that teaches different age groups through various lessons.

Veronique Jacob, a youth from Wan Smol Bag who took part in the lessons, appreciated the sessions provided by Paradise Swim.

“We had a good turnout in the session, we learnt a lot.”

The mothers will greatly benefit from the swimming lessons they learned over the past three days.

This year, around 500 participants have registered in the programs they offer.

The program will continue as they prepare to host an expert from Australia next month to provide lessons and techniques on survival in open water.
