The Vanuatu Football Federation, together with its youth programs, will host a big beach soccer festival this weekend, giving children a chance to learn more about the sport and understand its importance.
The festival is organized with the support of a young Japanese benefactor.
Ben Hungai, who is assisting to develop sports programs for children.
Speaking to VBTC Sports, Hungai said:
“The story behind this is a young person from Japan who is interested in developing sports in developing countries. He raised funds to come to Vanuatu and support kids in beach soccer.”
Hungai added that this week’s training sessions have already shown promising results, with children showing growing interest after learning new techniques:
“On the first day, beach soccer seemed like just playing, but then we went deeper into different techniques. Now the kids are more interested because they learned a lot, and the numbers are increasing.”
The festival will also be documented by the Japanese guest and shared on social media platforms like YouTube and Japanese TV stations to showcase Vanuatu’s love for soccer.
The Big Beach Soccer Festival will run on Saturday at Korman Stadium from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM, featuring boys and girls aged 6 to 16.
