Teams Set for Kickoff as VFF Futsal Champions League Launches

The VFF Futsal Champions League held a media press conference today, bringing together coaches and team captains from participating clubs ahead of this week’s key matches.

The meeting took place at the VFF Freshwota Stadium in Port Vila, with five of the participating clubs in attendance. It followed a general briefing with VFF Competitions Manager Bong Shem, who outlined important regulations for the tournament kicking off Wednesday afternoon.

At the press conference, representatives from the two clubs opening the competition — Ascension FC (Luganville Football Association) and G-United FC (Penama Football Association) — both expressed readiness and confidence ahead of their first match.

Captains from both sides said they were eager to test their strength on the court, noting that “the field will tell the story” after the final whistle.

Meanwhile, Southern Legion FC, PVFA’s champion club, will face Southern Hornets FC from Tafea. Both coaches agreed it will be a tough and competitive match.

Southern Legion captain Kemly Wilkins said his team respects their opponents but remains focused on their own performance, adding, “The court will decide tomorrow.”

The VFF Futsal Champions League officially kicks off Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. with Ascension FC vs. G-United FC, followed by Southern Legion FC vs. Southern Hornets FC at 5:00 p.m.

The winner of this 4th edition of the championship will represent Vanuatu at next year’s OFC Men’s Futsal Champions League.
