Residents and drivers are raising concerns over the condition of the road to Siviri on South Efate, questioning when it will be properly repaired.
The road has developed numerous potholes, which many trucks encounter daily while traveling to Eton or returning to Port Vila city. Some locals fear that these potholes could lead to serious accidents.
VBTC News witnessed over the past weekend trucks struggling to avoid collisions, with some drivers maneuvering dangerously over the potholes. Many members of the public, including pedestrians, risked their safety as trucks swerved around the damaged sections.
The road is under the responsibility of Pierre Brunet Entreprise, which had previously carried out repairs on this stretch. Truck owners have also expressed frustration, reporting that the potholes are causing damage to their vehicles.
In an interview with VBTC News, Pierre Brunet, owner of the company holding the contract for road maintenance around Efate, confirmed that repairs are underway. He said the company is following a set plan and timeline to restore the road.
Brunet urged drivers to exercise caution while driving and to respect other vehicles sharing the road during the repair process.
