PVFA Suspends Matches for Easter Week in Respect of Christian Observance

The Port Vila Football Association (PVFA) has announced that no football matches will take place during Easter Week, marking a first-time decision to honour the significance of the Christian holiday.

PVFA President Harry Atison confirmed the suspension in an interview with VBTC Sports, stating that all matches scheduled for Good Friday and Saturday have been postponed to allow players and clubs time to reflect on the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

“Yes, it is the first time the Port Vila Football Association will no longer allow matches to take place during Easter Week,” Atison said. “This means that on Good Friday and Saturday, there will be no matches. The reason is that we are observing a very important period on the Christian calendar, which marks the crucifixion and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

He added that all clubs supported the decision and confirmed that matches will resume on Monday, 21 April 2025, with the start of the Port Vila Cup.
