Lonran Football Club has claimed the Constitution Day football championship title on Pentecost Island, defeating Diversor FC in a thrilling 3–2 final match.
The tournament was part of celebrations marking Vanuatu’s Constitution Day, and followed the road project route from South to Central Pentecost.
The event aimed to raise awareness among Pentecost communities about the importance of Constitution Day, first signed in 1979, while also promoting unity through sports and community activities.
VBTC Sports spoke with Albert Vireibo, a teacher at Melsisi, who shared that the theme of this year’s celebration — “Look After Your Life” — encouraged healthy living and community participation through sports.
“The grand final had a great turnout, and this tournament brought people from across Pentecost together,” Vireibo said.
Information from Melsisi confirmed that the tournament was organized by more than 470 skilled workers under the CCECC road project on Pentecost.
Lonran FC emerged as champions, and celebrations concluded with a torch relay, where CP2 passed the flame to CP1, who will host the next tournament.
The Constitution Day celebration also featured a development run, where athletes ran 11 kilometers along the new road from South West Pentecost to Melsisi in Central Pentecost.
