The Acting Head of State of the Republic of Vanuatu, Stephen Dorrick Felix, received the new High Commissioner of New Zealand to Vanuatu, His Excellency Peter Kemp.
While presenting his Letter of Credence to the Acting Head of State at State House yesterday morning, High Commissioner Kemp said it was a great honour for him to present his credentials today.
“I take this time to thank you for meeting me at State House. It is a great honour to present this in support of the Government of New Zealand. Strong institutions make a strong country.”
The Acting Head of State, Stephen Dorrick Felix, welcomed the new New Zealand High Commissioner and congratulated him.
“I acknowledge this letter and offer congratulations from the Government and the people of Vanuatu as you assume this important diplomatic role.”
High Commissioner Kemp said New Zealand is always pleased to stand alongside Vanuatu.
“We are proud to support the economic development of Vanuatu, to help strengthen government systems, to make sure all people have good access to justice, and we are proud to stand with you in hard times such as during the earthquake.”
Acting Head of State Felix responded by saying that Vanuatu values the cooperation and relationship it shares with New Zealand.
“Vanuatu and New Zealand enjoy this partnership, which is built on mutual respect and shared values.”
