The Office of the Public Service Commission (PSC), through its Fleet and Housing Management Unit, has collected over VT12 million in overdue rent and fines related to government houses and vehicles in just three months, starting from January 2025. This revenue has been directed into the government’s coffers.
Over half of the total amount was collected from fines paid by some former members of parliament (MPs) for the misuse or damage of government vehicles. In addition, around 4 million vatu was also collected from former MPs as overdue rental fees of government houses they previously occupied.
Another 2 million vatu of the total revenue came from salary deductions from government employees living in government housing.
In 2024, the Fleet and Housing Management Unit of PSC collected a total of 26 million vatu in revenue from both government housing and vehicles, further boosting the government’s financial resources.
