The Vanuatu tourism industry has received a boost with the arrival of a new twin otter aircraft, Vanua-Endeavor, which will enhance domestic connectivity across the country.
Adela Aru, Chief Executive Officer of the Vanuatu Tourism Office, said the arrival of the aircraft restores confidence in the sector.
“When we have an additional aircraft like this twin otter, it helps rebuild confidence and assurance among tourism operators and businesses. It will improve connectivity for visitors traveling from the capital, Port Vila, to other islands,” Mrs. Aru said.
She added that the Government’s investment in the aircraft signals reliable domestic services for tourism operators across Vanuatu—north, central, and south.
“With the arrival of this twin otter, we have confidence that tourism operators around the country will start seeing reliable connectivity services throughout Vanuatu,” she said.
Mrs. Aru also called on local tourism operators to prepare their businesses for the returning market, whether they run guest houses, lodges, bungalows, or tourism activities.
“The Government’s commitment through this investment provides assurance that the market will return. Operators should start preparing their businesses now,” she said.
She encouraged operators to work with provincial tourism officers and take advantage of upcoming training sessions on marketing, social media, and content creation to attract visitors.
“Bookings and travel are beginning to resume. Domestic aviation connectivity is improving, so we encourage tourism operators to collaborate with tourism officers to support the recovery of tourism in Vanuatu,” she added.
The arrival of the new twin otter aircraft represents a positive step forward, bringing hope for the revival of Vanuatu’s tourism industry and better connectivity across the islands.
