Vanuatu United FC (VU FC) visited Carr Memorial Adventist School this week before concluding their Round 2 campaign in the 2026 Pro League.
After Vanuatu played two tough matches last weekend against Tahiti FC and on Tuesday against host nation Hekari United FC, the team took a few days off with light training sessions, focusing on their next match while also stepping out of their comfort zone.
This week, students of Carr Memorial Adventist School in Port Moresby witnessed a visit from Vanuatu United FC in town.
The team’s visit to the school showed appreciation to the students and teachers who took time to interact with the national team. During the visit, head coach Lar Hopp presented a national team jersey signed by every player to the school’s teacher.
Students had the opportunity to meet the players in person, talk with them, and play a game together. The team spent time with them, taking photos as a lifetime memory for the school, as PNG is hosting the second round of the 2026 Pro League.
The school visit this week marked Vanuatu United FC’s first visit to a school, and it was also noted that other teams made similar visits to different schools during the same period.
It was an opportunity for students who usually only hear the players’ names or watch them on television to finally meet these football champions of Oceania in person.
Aside from the visit, Vanuatu continues to work hard in preparation for their upcoming match on Sunday against runners-up Auckland FC, Melbourne FC, which also marks the end of the second round of the Pro League. Australia will host Round 3 of the OFC Pro League 2026, scheduled to kick off in two weeks’ time.
