Vila Central Hospital (VCH) is asking the public to donate blood after a serious accident on Tanna.
Over the weekend, more than 39 people gave blood at VCH.
Acting Officer-in-Charge of the Blood Unit, Willie Ray, told VBTC News that staff worked late to collect donations.
“We started after 5pm and served about 18 people. We worked until 2am. Other staff collected another 15 donations, and on Sunday we got six more. That makes about 39 in total,” he said.
Mr Ray said the hospital still needs more blood because the demand is high.
“Every month we use more than 100 units of blood. That is about 5–6 units every day,” he said.
VCH is also part of the free health clinic at Saralana Park in Port Vila, which started yesterday and will end this Thursday. People can also go to the hospital to donate blood during the campaign.
