Vanuatu Wins Two Bronze Medals at Pacific Oceania Junior Tennis Championships

Vanuatu has proudly secured two bronze medals at the Pacific Oceania Junior Tennis Championships held in Fiji last week.

The tournament brought together 120 athletes from 15 Pacific countries, showcasing the region’s top junior tennis talent.

Vanuatu’s first bronze medal came from the Under-12 team category, made up of Regmountfield Aka, Ashton Jacobe, and Jayden Lister. The team finished third overall, behind Papua New Guinea, who took silver, and American Samoa, who won the gold medal.

The second bronze medal was achieved by Cabby Wong in the Under-14 boys’ singles category, finishing third after a strong individual performance.

Despite fielding a smaller team compared to other nations, Vanuatu delivered an impressive performance and gained valuable experience competing at a high level against some of the best junior players in the region.

For many of the Vanuatu athletes, this was their first time participating in a major regional competition, while others returned with more experience to build upon.

Top-performing athletes from the tournament who meet international standards may receive invitations to participate in International Tennis Federation (ITF) events globally. This could also open doors to opportunities such as scholarships and professional training overseas.

This year marks the 34th edition of the Pacific Oceania Junior Tennis Championships.
