Clerk of Parliament says Simeon remains an MP pending appeal

Seoule Simeon reported to the Correctional Center at 9 a.m. this morning, entering custody while still carrying the title of Member of Parliament for Epi.

Clerk of Parliament, Maxime Banga, confirmed to VBTC News that under Section 3 of the Vacation of Seats Act, Simeon legally remains an MP despite his imprisonment.

The Supreme Court registry also confirmed that Simeon has already filed an appeal against his conviction, which will be heard by the Court of Appeal next month.
