Swimming Carnival to Scout New Talent Across 7 Schools

The Vanuatu Aquatics Federation is using its upcoming Swimming Carnival as a key platform to scout for potential swimming talent across local schools.

The event, which is one of the federation’s largest outreach programs, brings together students from schools already involved in Aquatics development programs.

VBTC Sports spoke with Vanuatu Aquatics Program Facilitator Glenda George, who highlighted the purpose and expectations of the carnival.

“This Swimming Carnival will take place this Friday, the 20th of [June], at Mele Beach Bar, with seven schools participating,” George said. “We have planned three main events for the day. Each student must be accompanied by their teacher and come prepared with a change of clothes, towel, water, and snacks. We will be providing lunch for all participants.”

George emphasized that the carnival is more than just a fun gathering—it’s a one-day competition aimed at identifying top swimmers who may be selected for further training and future competitions.

“Our goal is to identify strong swimmers who can be developed to compete at higher levels. These carnivals are designed to help us reach that objective,” she said.

The event is scheduled to start at 9:00 AM and run through the afternoon at Mele Beach Bar.
