The National University of Vanuatu (NUV), in collaboration with the Smart Cable Project, has announced a scholarship opportunity for Ni-Vanuatu citizens to pursue a Master’s degree at James Cook University (JCU) in Australia.
From a press release it states that this initiative is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen Vanuatu’s national capacity in science, technology, and data-driven innovation, which are crucial to the country’s sustainable development and digital transformation.
Eligible students are invited to apply for one of two postgraduate programs offered by JCU — the Master of Science (Professional) or the Master of Data Science (Professional). Both courses are designed to equip students with advanced technical and analytical skills that directly contribute to Vanuatu’s development priorities.
Applications must be submitted by 31 October 2025 at 5:00 p.m. Applicants are required to include a Curriculum Vitae and academic transcript or degree results.
NUV says the scholarship represents an investment in individual growth and a key step toward building local expertise for a smarter and more resilient nation.
The initiative aligns with the Vanuatu People’s Plan, the Vanuatu Education and Training Sector Strategic Plan, and the National Human Resource Development Plan 2020–2030 (NHRDP) — all aimed at developing skilled professionals to drive national progress.
