Work opportunities have increased again after many people lost their jobs following last year’s major earthquake.
But a new report from the Statistics Office and the World Bank shows that some families are still finding it difficult to earn money.
The report shows that after the earthquake, the percentage of workers dropped by 14% between December 2024 and March 2025.
But nine months later, in October this year, the report shows the labour market has strengthened again and many people now have jobs.
Despite this, the report also states that many households are still struggling.
Even though more jobs are available, the report shows that before, only 40% of workers were earning less than VT 30,000 per month.
But after the earthquake, 76% of workers are now earning less than VT 30,000 per month.
