Reliable sources within Parliament say Members of Parliament will only receive allowances for Wednesday, Thursday and today.
Wednesday this week is the day the Court of Appeal decision is delivered, and at the same time, notice of the motion is issued to MPs for Parliament to sit today.
This information comes following speculation and public talk that Parliament will spend a large amount of money on MPs’ allowances.
However, VBTC News is informed that Parliament will only pay return airfares for MPs travelling from the islands, daily subsistence allowances for 36 MPs, and sitting allowances for each member.
The second ordinary session starts on 6 November and is adjourned by the Speaker on 14 November.
Following the Court of Appeal decision, the Speaker issues notice that the second ordinary session resumes today.
MPs receive their allowances up to 14 November, but from 15 November up to today, more than 30 days have passed without any allowances.
