Leo Lebot Breaks National Swimming Record for Vanuatu at World Championships in Singapore

Vanuatu swimmer Leo Lebot has made national headlines after breaking a long-standing national swimming record at the World Long Course Championship 2025 in Singapore.

Competing in the men’s 50-metre butterfly heat, Lebot finished fourth in his race with a time of 29.42 seconds. This surpassed the previous national record of 30.07 seconds held by Jonathan Sailas, which was set during the Oceania Championship last year. It also marked a personal best for Lebot, improving significantly from his 31.47-second performance last year.

Lebot is competing alongside fellow Vanuatu swimmer and Olympian Loane Russet OLY. The event marks another major opportunity for the two national athletes following their successful participation in the Pacific Mini Games in Palau earlier this month.

Both athletes are entered in multiple events, including the 100-metre freestyle and 50-metre butterfly. The championships began over the weekend and will continue through to Friday, August 1st.
