Lebot and Oly Break National Records at World Championship in Singapore

It was a double celebration for Leo Lebot and Loanne Russet Oly as both athletes set personal bests and broke national records during the 2025 World Long Course Championships in Singapore.

Leo Lebot clocked a new personal best of 59.58 seconds in the men’s 100m freestyle, beating his previous time of 1:06.13 set at the Pacific Games in Solomon Islands.

The national record for the event, previously held by Johnathan Silas with 59.38 seconds during the Paris 2024 Olympics, still stands slightly ahead.

Lebot celebrated his achievement on July 30, finishing third in his heat.
Vanuatu Head Coach Lachlan Milner expressed pride in Lebot’s performance, saying he’s pleased to see the swimmer improving in every race.

Meanwhile, Loanne Russet Oly also reset her own national record in the women’s 100m freestyle with a time of 1:03.13, breaking the previous record she set at the 2024 World Championships in Qatar.

Her final race is scheduled for today in the 50m women’s butterfly.

Both athletes have spent the past week in Singapore competing at the 2025 World Long Course Championships.
