Lawac and Toko Exit in Quarterfinals of 2025 AVC Beach Tour in Taipei

Vanuatu women’s beach volleyball duo knocked out by Australia after strong early wins

Vanuatu women’s beach volleyball players Majabelle Lawac and Sherysyn Toko have finished their run in the AVC Beach Tour 2025 in Taipei after losing in the quarterfinals to a strong Australian team.

After winning two matches — first against Hong Kong and then Singapore — the Vanuatu pair made it into the Round of 16, and advanced to the quarterfinals. However, they lost in straight sets (2–0) to Australia, ending their campaign.

The team, coached by Miller Pata, travelled to Taipei straight after a successful performance at the Pacific Mini Games in Palau earlier this month.

This year’s AVC tournament featured 14 countries, including Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, and the Northern Mariana Islands.

Vanuatu’s participation shows the growing strength of the nation in beach volleyball, especially in the women’s team. These athletes continue to inspire young people across the Pacific to take part in sport and become champions themselves.
