Government Launches Plan to Reduce 429 Vehicles Under Public Service Commission

The Government, through the Fleet Unit of the Public Service Commission (PSC), has initiated a plan to reduce the 429 government vehicles currently under PSC management.

Ridley Magmaui, Manager of the PSC Fleet Unit, confirmed that the team has already begun the process, starting with the Prime Minister’s Office. They will systematically assess vehicles across all ministries and departments.

This initiative forms part of the government’s 100-day action plan. The PSC Fleet Unit aims to gather comprehensive data to prepare a detailed report for the Council of Ministers. Magmaui explained, “We have already collected data from Port Vila and the provinces, checking how many vehicles each ministry or department owns. This will allow us to present accurate and updated information to the Honourable Prime Minister. My team started this work last week, and this week, we’re focusing on assessing the age and operational history of each vehicle. It’s all part of our overall evaluation.”

The ongoing assessment is expected to provide vital statistics to help optimize the use of government vehicles.
