The Vanuatu Electoral Office is strongly urging all voters to take responsibility and check their voter ID cards before an election day to ensure they are registered at the correct polling station.
Principal Electoral Officer (PEO), Guilan Malessas, made the statement following several issues involving voter ID cards at some polling stations during the provincial elections held Tuesday this week.
These difficulties caused confusion for some voters who were unable to locate their designated polling stations, leading to delays in the voting process.
The Electoral Office says early ID checks can help avoid similar problems in future elections and ensure a smoother process on polling day.
