Bohn Breaks Through: Vanuatu’s First CrossFit Athlete Finishes on Top

Vanuatu’s first-ever CrossFit competitor, Andrew Bohn, has stormed to the top of his division in Australia, marking a breakthrough debut on the international stage and proving that age is no barrier to fitness success.

Bohn, 42, became the first athlete to represent Vanuatu in the fast-growing sport of CrossFit when he competed in a recent event in Australia. Unlike his previous attempts, where he finished near the bottom of the rankings, this time he powered through the pool stages and ended the competition on top.

“This competition had six tests three on Saturday and three on Sunday,” Bohn explained. “The first was an endurance test where I came fourth, and I thought I was done. But then I fought back, finishing second in the next two. By the end of the day, I was tied for first. On Sunday, I won both my events and finished the competition on top.”

CrossFit is a sport built on endurance, power, and strength, mixing elements from different fitness disciplines. Bohn says its appeal is that it doesn’t always require fancy equipment, making it accessible to anyone willing to train hard.

Beyond his own success, he believes the next step is creating a CrossFit federation in Vanuatu so others can take part more easily. “This sport is for everyone — age doesn’t matter, fitness does,” he said.
