VPF Launches People’s Plan to Build Stronger Police Force

Vanuatu takes a major step toward safer communities with the official launch of the Vanuatu Police Force People’s Plan

A comprehensive strategy aimed at building a professional, accountable, and people-focused police service across the nation.

The People’s Plan places human resources at the heart of policing, ensuring recruitment, training, and promotions are fair, transparent, and based on merit. It establishes clear pathways for professional development and succession planning, preparing future leaders to guide the force with integrity and vision.

The Commissioner of Police described the plan as a “seed” that will grow into a stronger, more resilient police force, rooted in the values of Ni-Vanuatu people. He emphasised that the true strength of the police lies in its officers – men and women who serve with courage, discipline, and respect for human dignity. Welfare support, fair postings, and recognition will help officers perform their duties with pride and integrity.

The Minister of Internal Affairs said the People’s Plan is not only a milestone for the police but also a national commitment to safety and stability. He highlighted that strong policing requires strong partnerships between the government, police, and communities. The plan ensures that officers feel valued and supported, while citizens are invited to participate in creating safer, more united communities.

With this launch, Vanuatu signals its determination to strengthen the guardians of peace and justice, building a police service that truly reflects the values of its people.
