A man has died following a suspected suicide on Wednesday night at Drean Gove, Ifira Point.

The Vanuatu Police Force says the deceased who is an Australian national allegedly shot himself.

Upon arrival at the scene, police discovered the man’s body with a gunshot wound to the left side of his jaw, which is believed to be the cause of death.

A firearm was also recovered at the scene — identified as a Remington Model 870 shotgun, which police believe was used in the incident.

Investigations are ongoing.
