People in Pentecost’s northern region are expected to witness the ground-breaking of Phase 2 of the tarseal road project later this year.
Minister for Infrastructure and Public Utilities, Hon. Xavier Harry, confirmed last week that government plans to launch the project by the end of November, starting from Melsisi and extending northward.
“The tarseal road project that government approved at the end of last year is moving ahead. We are looking forward to launching Phase 2 at the end of November, beginning from Melsisi toward the north,” the Minister said.
Harry also revealed that alongside the road works, government is prioritizing the construction of a new jetty at Melsisi Harbour, a key part of improving transport access for communities along the island.
The developments form part of ongoing infrastructure investments in Penama Province, aimed at boosting connectivity and supporting local economic growth.
