Montmartre Students Call for Action to Protect Environment

Students at Montmartre French School on Efate have used science projects to highlight problems in their environment and propose practical solutions to help protect it.

As part of their project presentations, the students shared innovative ideas such as using windmills for clean energy and planting more trees to combat deforestation.

Student Moltabago Aseline explained the benefits of wind power:

“The good side of using windmills is that wind is free, it’s natural, and it does not contribute to air pollution.”

Another student, Alan Nasse, focused on reforestation:

“According to research in our school, we found that we need to preserve more trees to protect our ecosystem. We are feeling stronger impacts of climate change, and trees are essential because they provide us with oxygen.”

The projects showed how young people are not only learning about environmental challenges but also taking the initiative to propose solutions for a healthier, sustainable Vanuatu.
