Port Vila’s iconic Grand Hotel & Casino has taken a major step toward its full return, with the casino officially reopening today after twelve months of rebuilding and refurbishment.
The reopening marks the first phase of the property’s staged comeback, with the hotel component scheduled to reopen in the first week of March 2026.
Managing Director Bettina Mahieu says the relaunch represents resilience and renewal for one of Port Vila’s most recognisable landmarks.
“After twelve months of rebuilding, The Grand is emerging stronger and more vibrant than ever. This milestone is about more than reopening — it represents the return of a central gathering place for locals, visitors, and our team,” she said.
Director Robert A. Zagame says the property holds deep meaning for the Zagame family, who have worked in hospitality for more than 55 years.
“Hospitality is not just about buildings — it’s about people, place, and purpose. The Grand holds a special energy in Port Vila, and we’re proud to help bring it back to life,” he said.
“This reopening continues our family’s long-standing commitment to Vanuatu, a country we’ve held close for decades.”
The full relaunch will see upgraded rooms, improved service, premium design features, and new-look hospitality and entertainment spaces.
Once the hotel reopens in March 2026, guests can expect:
- 74 rooms and suites, all with uninterrupted harbour views
- European marble ensuites, floor-to-ceiling windows, high-speed internet
- Five redesigned conference and event spaces
- The Grand Dining Room — a 90-seat harbourside restaurant
- Cabana Pool Bar & Lounge with curated cocktails
- A revitalised world-class casino
- 24-hour patrolled parking and private access lanes
- Immediate access to Port Vila’s CBD and Lini Highway
