A foreign national was found dead in an apparent suicide early this morning between Breakas Resort and Pango Surf Side, Eyewitnesses at the scene described the deceased as a middle-aged man who allegedly used a new rope a beach chair, and a bed to hang himself.

According to an eyewitness, who asked to remain anonymous for safety reasons, an Australian passport was found inside the deceased’s handbag.

The witness mentioned that the man had not been seen in the area before, but had visited the resort the prevous day. The man had ordered lunch, eaten, and left the restaurant without paying his bill.

The witness further described that the situation appeared to be a tragic and sudden event, and many locals are still processing the shock ,the foreign national’s actions left staff at the resort and neartry witnesses in disbelief.

The Vanuatu Police Force arrived at the scene at approximately 8:30 am, with Paramedics already present.

Authorities conducted their initial investigations, and the deceased’s body was later taken to the mortuary for further examination.

VBTC News reached out to both Vila Central Hospital and the Vanuatu Police Force for additional information regarding the incident, but of the time of reporting, no comment was received from either entity.

Local authorities have not yet issued a formal statement or provided further details about the foreign national’s identity.

This tragic event has left the community in shock, and questions remain about the circumstances surrounding the death.
