Efate Bus Fare Remains Unchanged-PLTA

Bus fares on Efate have not increased and will remain unchanged until an official order is issued to approve any adjustment.

This was confirmed by the Chief Executive Officer of the Public Land Transport Authority, Reginald Tabi.

“Some people still call the office and complain that some drivers charge them VT200. I want to inform everyone that when you get on a bus, you must hold VT150 regardless of the distance. Always carry coins because some drivers may not be honest with the change and may rush off,” Mr Tabi said.

Mr Tabi explained that any increase in public land transport fares can only take place if the responsible Minister makes a decision to approve it.

“This applies to the whole of Efate, and for longer distances, especially from rural areas into town for work, there may be a different fixed price based on distance, fuel and timing, so it is fair to charge for long-distance travel,” he said.
