Following the completion of the 9’s Fruit Festival competition earlier this year, and as AFL Vanuatu prepares to wrap up its programs at the end of this month, more than 80 students came together this week for a special arts and sports program.
The program brought students into mixed groups to learn creative activities alongside footy training, which ran throughout the entire day yesterday.
This event is one of the major activities held at the AFL Academy located at Kawenu Field.
Ecole Colardo coordinated the participation of local schools, helping make the event a success.
Meanwhile, AFL Vanuatu’s boys’ and girls’ junior teams are preparing a young squad to represent Vanuatu in the 2025 Oceania Cup in Fiji.
Although the final team lists are yet to be announced, training sessions are already underway.
As part of its development calendar, AFL Vanuatu plans to expand its programs to other provinces, now that Vanuatu has its own AFL Academy—similar to other Pacific countries—creating more opportunities for children and young people to explore a new sport.
