14-Year-Old Jayline Paints Her Feelings into Art

At just 14 years old, Jayline Kelep from Malekula is already proving that art is not just something you see,it is something you feel.

Her journey began when she was six, sketching with nothing more than a pencil. At nine, her parents gifted her a painting set, and from that moment, her world expanded into color. Now, with a paintbrush in hand, Jayline brings her thoughts and emotions to life on canvas.

“I love painting because I put my feelings into it,” she explains. Each stroke tells a story, each color carrying a piece of her heart.

This year marked her first time joining the Vanuatu Made event, and for Jayline, it was more than an exhibition it was a chance to share her identity. “Vanuatu Made to me means showing our tradition and culture,” she says proudly. “It also gives me the chance to show my talent to the locals.”

From a little girl sketching quietly with a pencil to a teenager painting with confidence, Jayline’s story is a reminder that art is not only created with hands it is created with heart.
