The first-ever hardware has officially opened in Tomali, South Epi, giving local communities easier access to essential building materials and fuel, and saving the cost of travelling to Port Vila.

Managing Director of Archipel Solutions, Andrew Bohn, who owns the new business, said the initiative aims to meet the growing demand for fuel and construction supplies in outer islands.

“I believe that government and people have their parts to play, but business also has a role in supporting development in the outer islands. Fuel and building materials are fundamental needs , this is the first fuel station and hardware store here,” Mr. Bohn said.

The opening ceremony was attended by local chiefs, community members, and the MP for Epi, Robert Bohn, along with his family.

Local resident Nas Taritong said the new business marks an important step for development in the area.

“I am glad that we are receiving development and help,” he said.

MP Robert Bohn also praised the efforts of the people of South Epi, saying, “This is not just government or business , it’s all of us working together. We, the people of South Epi, are the ones building this.”

The new hardware store provides a range of essential building materials, including roofing sheets, electrical wires, and other construction supplies.
