Awareness on cervical cancer is spreading across Efate as the IK-Kana Cancer Foundation continues its community outreach.
Max Albert, President of the foundation, told VBTC News that the campaign is helping people learn more about the disease, which claims the lives of many women.
“During the last 2 weeks we went through Emau, Pele, Mosso and Nguna, many people came around to learn more about this particular cancer and the preventions to it and this week we are moving to the main land. Yesterday we were at Paunganisu and Takara and moving to schools such as Matarisu and Ekipe and today moving to Teouma and Eton etc. This journey is bigger than what we were doing before. We can’t stop cancer but we are trying to control it, we want to eliminate it,” Albert said.
The campaign aims to educate communities on prevention methods and early detection, helping reduce cervical cancer deaths across Vanuatu.
