For the first time ever, 15 rally cars will take to Vanuatu’s Korman Stadium for an intense four-day competition, bringing the thrill of international rally racing to the nation’s doorstep.
With just three weeks left, Vanuatu is set to host the highly anticipated International Rally Championship from 21st to 24th November. The local organizing committee’s Public Relations Officer, Antonio Korikalo, shared that this four-day event, held only once a year, has gained widespread public interest and continues to draw rally enthusiasts from around the world.
This year’s competition is unique, as for the first time, 15 rally cars will race inside Korman Stadium, allowing spectators to watch the entire competition from a single venue. “It’s like watching major international events around the world, right here in Vanuatu,” Korikalo said.
“The thrill of witnessing a complete race unfold without leaving the stadium is an experience you won’t want to miss.”
The official opening will take place at the Fatumaru Bay, Pikinini Bar at 9:00AM on November 22. At 10:30AM, participants will move to Korman Stadium, where the race will begin at 12PM noon. The day’s competition will feature two stages within Korman Stadium and two stages near the airport, wrapping up with an exciting night stage back at the stadium.
Over the four days, rally cars will compete in a total of 26 stages, covering a distance of 212 kilometers. Korikalo noted that teams must be well-prepared and strategic, as the first two stages are intense, while the rest are designed to test endurance.
“Teams will need to be cautious not to push their vehicles too hard and ensure they complete all stages to qualify as winners.”
This November, Vanuatu’s international rally is set to offer an exhilarating experience for spectators and competitors alike, bringing the world of rally racing closer to home.
