Vanuatu United FC will make history next week when the club plays its first-ever international friendly matches, taking on former Australian A-League champions Central Coast Mariners at VFF Freshwater Stadium.

The two sides will meet on Wednesday and Saturday, giving Vanuatu United an opportunity to test themselves against one of Australia’s top professional clubs ahead of upcoming international competitions.

The friendly series will also see several new faces make their first appearances for Vanuatu United FC.

Some of the players have previously featured for Galaxy FC in the OFC Champions League but have now joined the Vanuatu United squad for the two international fixtures.

Vanuatu United goalkeeper Matthew Acton is among the players preparing with the squad as the team builds towards the two matches.

The club will, however, be without several key players who are currently on loan with overseas clubs. Those players are expected to return to Vanuatu United when the second edition of the OFC Pro League begins.

Central Coast Mariners are expected to arrive in Vanuatu this weekend to complete their final preparations before the first encounter on Wednesday.

For Vanuatu United FC, the two matches represent more than preparation. They mark a new chapter in the club’s history and provide an opportunity for its players to gain valuable experience against professional opposition.
