DD Raises Vanuatu’s Global Popularity Through Viral Contents

With more than 130,000 active social-media users across Vanuatu, the country’s digital presence is rapidly expanding, and Kenyan travel influencer Diana Daisy-Gau (DD) is helping to amplify that global visibility through her viral online content.

Arriving in Vanuatu in September 2025, Diana Daisy spent more than two months exploring the islands, from the roaring Yasur Volcano in Tanna to the cultural heart of Port Vila and Efate, capturing Vanuatu’s landscapes, traditions, and people for her millions of followers across Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok.

“Everyone is going to Dubai and other big destinations,” she told VBTC News, “but I love traveling to small Pacific islands where I can experience real community life.”

Daisy said her time in Vanuatu has been life-changing, noting that her content about the islands has led to a noticeable rise in followers and engagement.

“I’ve had business friends who now want to invest here after seeing my posts,” she said. “My audience from the U.S. and Africa have been asking where Vanuatu is and how to get here.”

Her message to potential travelers:

“The country may be expensive, but the people’s love is not. Come and experience Vanuatu for yourself.”

She also urged Ni-Vanuatu to use social media creatively to promote local crafts and services.

“If you braid hair or make clothes, post it online. Use these platforms to support tourism and earn extra income,” she added.

Tourism Office Notes Global Engagement

According to the Vanuatu Tourism Office (VTO), Daisy’s visit, which began independently, was later supported in collaboration with the Ministry of Trade and Commerce to feature Vanuatu’s local tourism and trade sites.

The VTO confirmed that Daisy took part in a familiarization program showcasing key attractions including Ekasup Cultural Village, Aelan Chocolate Factory, 83 Distillery, and Waterfall Precinct.

Posts from this partnership on the Sapotem Lokol Tourism Facebook page generated over 3,300 views and more than 60 interactions, while Daisy’s own social-media channels recorded a sharp rise in international inquiries about Vanuatu as a travel destination.

“Her use of hashtags like #Vanuatu highlighted the beauty of our islands and the warmth of our people, which are our strongest tourism assets,” the office said in a statement.

VTO said Daisy’s visit “enhanced online visibility for the destination” and continues to inspire new global interest from other influencers.

Vanuatu’s Growing Digital Presence

According to the Digital 2025: Vanuatu report by DataReportal (January 2025), Vanuatu recorded approximately 130,000 social-media user identities, representing about 39.3 percent of the population. The report also found a 7.5 percent annual growth in social-media users between early 2024 and 2025, with Facebook remaining the country’s most-used platform.

While influencers are not yet the top motivator for travel decisions, the Vanuatu Tourism Office says creators like Daisy are playing a growing role in attracting younger international audiences and digital investors.

From volcano adventures to village stories, Diana Daisy’s journey across Vanuatu has not only showcased the nation’s beauty and culture but also boosted its digital footprint , helping the islands capture new attention on the world stage.
