PM Napat: “No More Bureaucratic Delays—Time for Action”

Port Vila, Vanuatu – Prime Minister Jotham Napat has issued a strong directive to government officials, emphasizing the need for efficiency, accountability, and urgent reforms within the public service sector. Addressing the private sector and business owners, he outlined immediate measures to tackle bureaucratic delays and improve government performance.

Government Hears You Loud and Clear

During a high-level meeting with private sector representatives, PM Napat reaffirmed the government’s commitment to swift earthquake recovery efforts. Business owners raised key concerns, including traffic access, building standards, and port accessibility. In response, the government pledged direct support, including grants to assist businesses in rebuilding. “Government hears you loud and clear,” PM Napat assured, emphasizing that urgent action will be taken to address these pressing issues.

Government Offices to Operate During Lunch Hours

To enhance public service delivery, PM Napat announced that all government offices will remain open during lunch hours. He stressed that inefficiency and delays would no longer be tolerated. “Public servants must be responsible and accountable to the government and the people. We will monitor their performance,” he stated.

    Accountability at All Levels

Reaffirming his commitment to accountability, the Prime Minister made it clear that officials must meet performance standards or step aside. “If I am not performing, I am ready to step down,” he declared, emphasizing that the same standard applies across all public service sectors.

    Urban Development and Land Use

PM Napat has called for the immediate expansion of the city, making it clear that delays will not be accepted. He warned that buildings obstructing development could face demolition. “If you do not comply with government directives, your lease will be canceled,” he stated.

    Infrastructure and Public Works Prioritized

The government has identified key infrastructure concerns, including drainage and building codes, as top priorities. PM Napat stressed the need for a streamlined planning process to accelerate development.

    Streamlining Funding Processes

Addressing inefficiencies in accessing donor funds, the Prime Minister reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring accountability and transparency while expediting the use of resources. “We will not allow bureaucracy and unnecessary delays to slow us down,” he asserted.

    100-Day Plan Under Development

While PM Napat has committed to a structured 100-day plan to address public concerns in the short, mid, and long term, he emphasized that the plan is being carefully developed to incorporate all key issues raised. His administration is focused on ensuring that every concern discussed is factored in, creating a roadmap that delivers real results. “We are here to deliver—not to please anyone,” he stated.

PM Napat’s strong stance signals a decisive shift toward efficiency and accountability, reinforcing the government’s commitment to action.
