The National University of Vanuatu (NUV) and the Financial Markets Association (FMA) have begun discussions on a partnership to develop a stronger pipeline of skilled Ni-Vanuatu graduates to meet the growing workforce needs of Vanuatu’s financial services industry.
The discussions focus on strengthening collaboration between higher education and industry, ensuring university programmes remain aligned with labour market demands while creating more employment opportunities for local graduates.
NUV Vice-Chancellor Jean-Pierre Nirua said the partnership reflects the university’s commitment to preparing graduates with the skills and professionalism needed by employers.
“These discussions reflect our commitment to ensuring that the National University of Vanuatu remains closely aligned with the labour market and qualification needs of Vanuatu and the Pacific region. We look forward to building a partnership that creates meaningful career opportunities for our students and strengthens Vanuatu’s financial sector.”
The Financial Markets Association, which represents Vanuatu’s financial dealer licence holders, said it is looking to increase the number of qualified Ni-Vanuatu professionals working in the industry.
Head of Business Development Noel Vari said the Association is committed to building a sustainable and reputable financial services sector and sees NUV as a key partner in developing future finance professionals.
The partnership supports NUV’s goal of providing education that responds to national workforce priorities while contributing to economic growth, capacity building and sustainable development in Vanuatu and the wider Pacific.
