Team Vanuatu has entered the final stage of preparations for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, with athletes officially receiving their national jerseys ahead of their departure for Scotland.
The jersey presentation ceremony, organised this week by the Vanuatu Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee (VASANOC) and national sports federations, marked the athletes’ official send-off before they represent Vanuatu on the international stage.
The ceremony became an emotional occasion as family members, coaches and long-time supporters presented the athletes with their national colours, recognising the commitment and sacrifices made throughout their sporting journeys.
VBTC Sports News has also confirmed that weightlifters Ajah Pritchard Lolo and Thomas Wilbur have been given the honour of leading Team Vanuatu during the Opening Ceremony.
Lolo will carry the Vanuatu flag as the nation’s flag bearer, while Wilbur has been selected as baton bearer, following their direct qualification for the Commonwealth Games.
VBTC Sports News understands that both athletes are currently overseas completing their final preparations and are expected to join the rest of Team Vanuatu in Scotland later this week.
The remainder of Team Vanuatu is now completing its final preparations before departing, carrying the hopes of the nation as they prepare to compete against athletes from across the Commonwealth.
The Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games will run from 23 July to 2 August, bringing together athletes from Commonwealth nations to compete across a range of sporting events.
With preparations nearly complete, Team Vanuatu will be aiming to deliver strong performances and make the nation proud on another major international stage.
