Freshwater School Hunts Top Athletes for SEPSA

Freshwater School in Port Vila has begun its two-day sports competition at Korman Stadium, aimed at selecting top athletes for upcoming school competitions.

The event brings together students from Class 5 up to higher levels, competing in various sports to identify the best performers who will represent the school at the SEPSA Games.

Younger students, from Kindergarten to Class 4, are not part of the competition, with the focus placed on senior students preparing for inter-school events.

Deputy Principal John Webster said the main goal is to build a strong team for the upcoming competitions.

“The main aim is to select a team to represent the school at SEPSA, which is coming up in a few weeks. From there, another team will be selected to represent Port Vila at the Penama Games,” he said.

Students showed strong participation and enthusiasm, competing across different events as they aim to secure a place in the school team.

Parents were also present at the stadium, supporting their children throughout the competition.

One parent, Pierre, said it is important for families to be involved in school activities.

“I have four children at this school, so I always come to support them during sports and other activities. I encourage all parents to come and support their children because their future is in our hands,” he said.
