Holiday Inn Resort in Port Vila has launched a Future-Readiness Program on Monday, 29 September, as part of the global InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) Giving for Good initiative.
The three-month internship program, running until December, is designed for young people aged 16 to 19, equipping them with essential workplace skills such as discipline, punctuality, CV writing, and professional behavior. The program aims to give participants clear direction for their future careers and prepare them to become “future fit” for working life.
In its first intake, 32 participants, mainly children and relatives of Holiday Inn staff — have begun training, including school leavers and youth seeking job experience.
Holiday Inn General Manager, Rashmi Tulsiani, said:
“Every year in September, we dedicate ourselves to Giving for Good. This year we launched Ready Blong Tomorrow, a three-month internship to prepare the next generation with discipline, skills, and workplace readiness. We are proud to start with 32 interns, with more groups to come.”
Holiday Inn staff member Leisaru Kaltom, who has worked with the resort for over 20 years, described the program as life-changing:
“This initiative doesn’t only help the youth — it makes parents proud knowing their children now have a chance to build their future. It’s the first time we’ve seen such a program in Vanuatu.”
Participants Glemen Kalobong and Stellalyn Taiki both said the opportunity is a big step toward learning workplace discipline and gaining valuable career experience.
Holiday Inn confirmed that the initiative is part of a globally recognized program, with plans to expand and create more opportunities for young people in Vanuatu.
