Students in Lakatoro, Malekula, took the lead in a community clean-up campaign, aiming to raise awareness about proper waste disposal and keeping the environment clean.
Provincial Waste Management Officer for Malampa, Allan Harry, told VBTC News the initiative was about reminding people of the importance of throwing rubbish in the right place to promote a cleaner, healthier community.
The clean-up was organized by Japanese volunteer Mrs. Yamaguchi, who said a clean environment promotes hygiene and makes Malampa more attractive to visitors.
Councillor Tangen Rambay supported the effort by providing plastic bags for collecting rubbish.
