The Vanuatu Police Force has launched its 2025 business plan to enhance community safety and improve police operations. The plan focuses on better collaboration with partners to provide effective services to the public.
The business plan aims to help the police force address community needs while maintaining a strong focus on public safety.
Minister of Internal Affairs, Hon. Andrew Napuat, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to citizen safety in a recent speech. He announced “there is an increase in community policing efforts, with police actively patrolling neighborhoods and addressing traffic and social issues during weekdays and weekends. This initiative reinforces leadership expectations for the police force.”
The Minister also noted the expansion of weekend operations for the Vanuatu Police Force (VPF) and highlighted the importance of donated equipment, such as vehicles, in supporting their work. He expressed gratitude to partners for their contributions and emphasized the ministry’s goal of decentralizing the police force by providing necessary resources to area councils and provinces.
Commissioner of the Vanuatu Police Force, Robson Iavro, stressed the need for flexibility and adaptability in police work, stating, “There is a big need for the police to be flexible and adaptable, but the main role of the police is still the same: to protect all the people of Vanuatu.” He added that being efficient and responsive is crucial for meeting government and community expectations.
