As Air Vanuatu’s ATR aircraft goes in for major maintenance, Solomon Airlines will handle domestic flights, ensuring uninterrupted service.

Air Vanuatu’s ATR aircraft will enter major maintenance on November 16, marking its first full servicing since the COVID-19 lockdown and we expect it to be out of service for a couple of weeks. During this period, Air Vanuatu has arranged for Solomon Airlines to manage key domestic routes.

Hon. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Matai Seremaiah, highlighted the importance of the service and Air Vanuatu’s interim plan to maintain service continuity.

Minister Seremiah said “In the meantime, Air Vanuatu has partnered with Solomon Airlines to cover flights between Vila and Santo. Our Twin Otters will handle other domestic routes.”

He also shared that parts for Air Vanuatu’s third Twin Otter have arrived, with the aircraft expected to be operational by early this week, bringing their total Twin Otter fleet to three.

On international routes, Minister Seremaiah noted that these will take additional time to resume fully.
