Police in Port Vila said they have arrested a young man from Tanna/Aneityum over the alleged killing of his biological mother.

In the early hours of this morning, 16 May 2025, police responded to an incident in Teouma, near Jehovah, where the man reportedly assaulted his mother using a brick, striking her on the head and causing her death.

Police confirmed the suspect has been taken into custody and is currently being held while investigations continue. He is expected to be remanded to the Correctional Centre soon.
