Prime Minister Hon. Jotham Napat has announced key achievements under the government’s 100-Day Plan, highlighting the successful passage of constitutional amendments linked to the proposed Economic Trade Zone.
The reforms, passed with bipartisan support in Parliament, include a 12-month grace period leading to a national referendum in 2026 — aimed at enabling broader political restructuring.
One of the notable issues addressed is the Citizenship Program, where a new regulation has been signed to tighten oversight. In addition, the government has introduced an automated invoicing system, designed to strengthen transparency and streamline revenue collection across departments.
Meanwhile, in a major boost for rural development, the Prime Minister revealed substantial progress in telecommunications coverage. Working in partnership with the Telecommunications, Radiocommunications and Broadcasting Regulator (TRBR), the government has begun installing new towers in the following areas:
- South Malekula (Akam)
- Santo (Pompua & North Pesena)
- Ambae (South Lolovoli & West Ambae)
- Aneityum (Port Patrick)
- Malekula (Wormet)
- Vanualava (West Wesaka)
- Paama (Taviliao)
- Emae (Tongomeia)
TRBR’s audit, now 86% complete, confirms that 99% of the population is within mobile coverage. The government has invested VT690 million into this national connectivity project under its Universal Access Policy, aiming to ensure digital inclusivity across all islands.
