The Public Service Commission has welcomed a new member this week.

Madeleine Tom from the Shepherds Outer Islands has been appointed to replace former member Nadia Didou Kanegai from Ambae.

VBTC News understands that the appointment of Ms Tom follows the medical condition of former member Nadia Kanekai, who is currently receiving medical treatment overseas.

The instrument removing Ms Kanekai and appointing Ms Tom was signed by the President of the Republic on Monday this week.

The Public Service Commission consists of five members and is an independent constitutional body responsible for overseeing more than 4,000 government employees in Vanuatu.
