Kaltak to Depart Central Coast Mariners at Season’s End

Vanuatu national men’s football team captain, Brian Kaltak, will part ways with Australian A-League club Central Coast Mariners at the end of the current season.

Kaltak has made the difficult decision to leave the Mariners and pursue a new chapter in his football career, with plans to move into the Asian football scene. Although the club he will join has not yet been confirmed, the move was finalised earlier this year.

The decision was officially announced this month by Mariners head coach Mark Jackson, who described Kaltak as an honest and valuable player for the team. Speaking to Paramount Plus, Coach Jackson said he respects the choice Kaltak has made.

Kaltak, widely regarded as one of Oceania’s standout footballers, has earned a strong reputation in Australia, where he is known as the “Brick Wall of Gosford” for his powerful defensive performances. He is also a two-time A-League Championship winner.

In a recent statement, Kaltak expressed that his goal is to explore opportunities in either Europe or Asia, aiming to advance his professional career even further.

VBTC Sports made several attempts to contact Kaltak for comment but was unsuccessful. It is understood that he is currently focused on end-of-season preparations with his club.

Kaltak’s journey began in New Zealand with Auckland City before joining Central Coast Mariners. His transition to Asia marks a historic milestone, making him the first local Vanuatu player to reach this level of professional success.
